With the 2009 StagersLIST Expo Series, Chris is finally "hopping on the bus". Why? Because I get to do a day 2 workshop about websites, blogging and internet marketing. So here is where the help comes in... What do you want to learn about? Where should I focus that would best assist home stagers and realtors in their businesses?
How can I be entertaining for an hour and a half? Oh, nevermind, I can handle that one (I hope).
I just want to know what information would be of value to YOU and people you know. Ideas? I'm really excited, but would be even MORE excited if I knew I was able to bring you information that you WANT for your business' online presence. Thanks for any suggestions! Of course, the workshops are a little more casual and all questions will be answered, so that's all good. I'd just like a general idea so I have my "talk" at the beginning ready before I start taking questions from the workshop participants.
Thanks in advance!

OK Chris I want to know HOW to find you to do work! LOLO If I have you I don't need to know anything.
Okay, babe, I DO work, I promise. I'm just fast. : ) Thanks for the re-blog so FAST. How cute is Carole's mom's new poodle?
Wish I could help. Honestly I know so little that I can't tell you what I need to know. I have to hire help because techie talk makes me crazy. So maybe a list of techie teminology in "everyday lay lingo" would be good. Wish I could be in LA to hear your presentation.
I don't have any advice to give because I still have a lot to learn in this area. I wish you luck and if you do get some great tips, make sure you post them for those of us that don't know much about this area. Thanks and have fun at your workshop!
Chris - It would be good if you have an idea how much your audience already knows. Maybe you could send out a survey to gather some information from people who registered for the Expo.
Hi Chris, I don't have anything specific really. When I have a listing I would like for buyers, when viewing the house, to have the feeling that they don't want to leave. So, maybe how to create an emotional connection. How is that?
Thanks to all of you for the great suggestions!
Ginger - I think some people use the "techie talk" to confuse customers into thinking they "need them". So I'll be happy to explain some of that.
Lisa - Great idea, I will do a blog after the expo.
Jennifer - Very good idea, I think I will do just that.
Shirley - That's very good. When I make a website I like to make it "feel" like the client so people can get to know them. I think that's important.
When I do seminars - I always do a handout with references to where people can go to get the information (books, websites, etc.). And I do another with specific tips bullet pointed on what I'm talking about in my class. These go over well.
For topics - I'd suggest WHY blogging is a good idea and HOW it impacts your site rankings. I'd also maybe demystify the way site ranking works and what constitutes a good blog post and/or great website content. What makes one website really cool and one that's just annoying. Why people subscribe to one blogger and not another. How to make YOUR blog stand out among the crowd.
Most people I know, myself included, want to know how to make money from our websites. Hope this helps!
Hi Liz - That helps a lot, thank you!
Hi Chris! A good topic for all would be social media and it's benefits. The value that blogging adds to your business( SEO ,ect.). And the finer points of Twitter, Facebook, ect. Also sites to participate in, like AR, Energized Seller, Trulia, ect. These are things I am exploring and finding out new things daily. So, a lot are not interested but when shown the value, might be. I could go on and on, so I won't! Good luck, and I will see you there :)
Wendy, I'm so glad I'll see you at the Expo! I was hoping you'd make it. Good advice, thank you. There certainly is a lot out there to participate in and so much to learn!
When we had a stager address our office, she came equipped with props, examples, etc.
It was like a quick change artist. She had a round table, with layers and layers of table cloths. She demonstrated how to dress up a table --- first layer, with just a floral arrangement; second layer, a table set for two; third layer, a service buffet; fourth layer, a romantic set up with flowers and candles. Etc.
On the screen, she had several examples of BEFORE and AFTER, and then she pointed out what she did that made a difference.
She talked about where to shop and how to shop to get the best deals (she didn't hesitate saying bed-in-a-bag is a quick and easy makeover).
It's always entertaining to watch a pro at work. By showing examples, she communicated her thoughts loud and clear.l
Thank you Pacita, I am sure visuals do help immensely. It's always fun to watch a good stager at work, too! Sounds like she did a great job. I appreciate your input!
Chris - I really like the post and can't think of any thing right now!
