Creative fundraising - cute dog pictures. : )

Adryon is running in the 26.2 mile Nike Women's Marathon to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Napoleon is helping his mommy save lives, one mile at a time!

Some of you may know, my friend Adryon is participating in Team in Training to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She decided to take this step in her life after realizing that an injury she received at work was not fixable and she is permanently disabled. She was feeling depressed about that and other things and came to the conclusion that she needed to make some changes.

Personally, it would not have occurred to me that running a 26.3 mile marathon was a good idea. But for whatever reason, that is what occurred to Adryon. I think she's nuts, but in a good way. She invited me along to a thank you party for the Team in Training participants. Some of the people the teams are running for were there, as well as photos of people they are running for who have recently passed. It certainly made me feel grateful that the challenges I currently have are not even challenges when compared to what these families are going through. It was also interesting to learn that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is not just about finding a cure, it is also about supporting patients and their families.

Anyway, Adryon is getting very frustrated with her fundraising. It's been very slow and difficult to meet her goal. The economy is not great, most of us have less than we used to, and most of us already have our charities of choice. So she strapped collection bags on Napoleon, her French Bulldog. He wears them whenever they go to the dog park so his friends' mommies & daddies can help Adryon to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

If you are in our area, there are a couple ways you can help. September 7, we are having a garage sale fundraiser. August 27 from 3-9pm Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill will donate 20% of your bill to Adryon's fund for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Just bring this flyer to one of the following 3 locations to participate:

Emeryville - Bay Street Shopping Center, 5614 Bay Street
Pleasant Hill - Monument & Buskirk, 2390 Monument Boulevard
San Francisco - Embarcadero Center, 4 Embarcadero Center

Thanks for reading! Any and all help is greatly appreciated. If you'd like to see what I bought with my donation, please click on the button below, How Chris tortured Adryon. Currently, if you donate $50 you receive a Peet's gift certificate.
