How Chris will travel the world (OR Staging Expo coming soon to a city near you)

1st Annual Bay Area Staging Expo was a success!

As you may have read here and here, the Expo was a success and a lot of fun!  The ladies followed it up with a Sacramento Area Expo the next day, and that was great too.  In case you haven't read about it, I'll give you a very short description:

An original, thank you very much! The main speaker was Christine Rae, Staging Expert/Trainer and author of Home Staging for Dummies.  Christine discussed Trends in Your Marketplace.

Terrylynn (my mom & Realtor for 31 years) talked about What YOU Need to Know about Real Estate TODAY!

And of course, Kym Hough, owner of Staged-to-Sell and public speaker, talked about Marketing Your Business Daily.

And so much more... we had wonderful vendors, speakers and everyone just had a lot of fun getting to know each other and learning from each other.

The stowaway, um, I mean assistant! So here's why I'm really excited:

Terrylynn, Kym and Christine have had a lot of people contact them about doing an Expo in their area.  How great is that?!  Why?  Because that means I will be stowing away to working at some of these Expos!  There are many places in the US I have not visited, and I've never visited Canada, so look out AR friends!  I may show up in a town near you!  : )  Oh yeah, and you'll have a great Expo too!

If you'd like to see photos of the Expo, we have just added them to www.StagingExpo.com.  There is also a feedback area on the site, so if you attended please let us know what you thought.  Otherwise, sign our guestbook & say hi!  Once we get a calendar going, we'll add that to the site as well.

Chris - hates when people lie about stuff

Thanks to this new Beatles group... yeah yeah yeah ALL DAY TODAY!

Just thought you'd want to know! All day long today, "You think you lost your love, well I saw her yesterday-ay-ay..." Okay, gotta work, need to concentrate... "It's you she's thinking of, and she told me what to say-ay-ay." Okay, there are worse things that have been stuck in my head (think Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus lately). So, Beatles group, thank you for inhabiting my head all day long.

Beatles Group, She loves you, and you know you should be glad! OOOOOOO

Bring back the FUNK!

I know my friend Deborah Pearce will appreciate this. Rhiannon & I went to Best Buy yesterday to spend her birthday gift card (yes, from December). She got Sims 2 Free Time. Of course while there I browsed the CDs and picked up Sly & The Family Stone's Greatest Hits. I have their albums, but you know, time to get a CD.

So we then went next door to Linens & Things, which is going out of business. Somewhere along the way, Rhiannon put down our Best Buy bag & we couldn't find it. Searched the store, nothing. Went home very sad. Luckily we got a call from the manager that they had found our bag and my dad, "grandpa (Rhiannon batting big blue eyes)" was nice enough to take Rhiannon back to pick it up.

While cooking dinner tonight, Rhiannon was playing Sims 2 Free Time, and we were both bopping around to my new, fabulous, CD. She knew a couple of the songs already... Dance to the Music (Shrek) and Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin (Scooby Doo). lol

But since it's summer I thought I'd just say... "Boop-boop-ba-boop-boop when I want to!" Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

The clothes... the hair... the sideburns... good times. Enjoy your summer!

Hi Active Rainers... Welcome my friend Adryon when you have a minute

Hello - I just wanted to take a moment to introduce you to my friend Adryon.  Some of you may have already seen my blog about her insane caring idea about running the Team in Training Marathon for the Leukemia/Lymphoma society.  I know it's selfish, but I "bought" a night of babysitting from Adryon via a donation.  Guess what I'm using it for?  The Jonas Brothers concert next Thursday.  Hmm... Not super charitable on my part.  The kids are excited, they love Adryon.

Adryon has joined Active Rain to work on her VA business.  She is highly intelligent and knowledgeable and should have no problem taking care of whatever tasks come her way.

She also works with Autistic children.  She loves her kids, and you can tell.  She knows a lot about different issues that children can have and would be a wonderful tutor or behavioral consultant if you are in need of some advice.

Adryon is also one of the few people who I can call & say, "Oh man, Evil Dead The Musical is playing, wanna go?"  and get an immediate, "Hell yeah!"  We also enjoy Quentin Tarantino, John Waters, and many other twisted interesting individuals.

I'm thinking it would be great if Adryon does a series on Autism Awareness.  If you have a chance, give her some encouragement on her introductory post.  If we can get her blogging, I think we'll all be glad we did.

Adryon as described by my friend, Terry Yoder:  "That little thing is so independent & determined! She must have been a handful growing up!"

Adryon as described by my grandma, Shirley:  "She is just so darn cute!"

So Adryon, Bring on  the cute, independent determination!

Oh yeah, Adryon has a French Bulldog, Napoleon.  He is a character, to say the least.  I'm sure we can get some blogs from her about his behavior and the interesting situations she runs into at the dog park!

Fisherman's Wharf day in SF with the kids... well, at least half a day

I have realized it is the middle of summer vacation and I promised Rhiannon and her BFF Amelia we'd do some little day trips.  So far, we haven't.  I also noticed I've had a total of 3 days off since March.  I have a lot of work to do, StagersLIST.com is taking up a lot of time, and so are my other clients.

FirewoodCafe.comSo I made a bit of a compromise for this Friday.  My daughter is in a summer program that gets out at noon.  I'm going to take Amelia with me to pick her up, then we'll head over to San Francisco.  First stop... Well, an appointment with one of my clients... BUT that won't take long AND there is an Italian restaurant a few doors down (the kids love spaghetti), so we can start with lunch after my appointment!

Also, my client, Mark Peterson-Estrada does Reiki treatments and has offered Rhiannon and I a free treatment.  It will be nice for her to meet him in person and decide if she's interested in that (I'm pretty sure she will be).  Mark participates in/sponors some wonderful, healing community support programs.  See, it's a good Stop 1!

Once websites have been discussed and our tummies are full of spaghetti, we will head off to the Fisherman's Wharf area, "San Francisco's Most Popular Destination".  We are planning our day trips so that we only have to park once or twice, since parking is a big deal in San Francisco, as I'm sure it is in other busy cities.

Fisherman's WharfRhiannon was at Pier 39 on a "grandpa day" a few weeks ago and noticed the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, which they didn't have time to visit.  Also in this area we have chosen to visit the Wax Museum and the AquariumBig bonus, I've found coupons for admission on all three (click a link to print the coupon).

There's plenty more to do in the Fisherman's Wharf area, but we only have from about 2:30 or 3pm until closing time at 11pm (hopefully we'll be done before then), and I think we'll wrap it up at the Hard Rock Cafe (most restaurants validate 1-2 hours of parking).  You could also take a dinner cruise, visit Alcatraz, shop till you drop, walk to Ghiradelli Square and get some chocolate... it could easily be a full day or weekend trip.  You can also look at the sea lions, who have their own webcam, which is one of my favorite things.  They're very cute as they sun themselves on the pier.  There are too many things to list.  Don't forget your "Escaped from Alcatraz" or "I Heart San Francisco" t-shirt.

Sea Lions

Some things to remember when you visit Fisherman's Wharf:

  • Wear your sunscreen, even if it doesn't seem hot.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes!
  • It's very crowded so keep an eye on the kids.
  • Don't be in a hurry, there's a lot to take in.
  • Have a great time!

- Chris
